What is a Doula?
A Doula is a professional birth coach that will provide evidence based information, emotional and physical support to women during pregnancy, birth and in the postnatal period too. As a doula we do not provide medical care, however we do provide you with all the knowledge you need to help you make and informed choice during your baby's birthing day, and during your motherhood journey.
Clinical research has shown that when a Doula is present at birth:
- You are more likely to have a spontaneous vaginal delivery
- Labour is likely to be shorter
- Increased success in your breast feeding journey
- More likely to have an increased sensitivity towards your newborn baby
- Less likely to give birth by Caesarean Section, forceps or vacuum extraction
- Less likely to need pain relief methods such as epidural
- Increased satisfaction with your birthing experience
- Due to the support provided mums are less like to develop Postnatal Depression
Maternology Birth Doula Standard Package
- 2 antenatal sessions that will cover evidence based education relating to labour and birth
- Guidance and support in creating your very own birth preference document
- On-call 24/7 from 10 days before baby's estimated due date right up until your baby is born
- Support in all birth settings
- Unlimited email and telephone support
- Continuous educational, emotional and physical support during labour and birth
- 1 x 2 hour postnatal session to celebrate the birth of baby and mum, as well as answer any questions you may have
- Consultation via telephone or email during the first 6 weeks after birth
Maternology Birth Doula Premium Package
- Full antenatal course that will be held over 3 sessions, and will cover everything you need to know about labour, birth and caring for your newborn
- Guidance and support in creating your very own birth preference document
- On-call 24/7 from 10 days before baby's estimated due date right up until your baby is born
- Support in all birth settings
- Unlimited email and telephone support
- Continuous educational, emotional and physical support during labour and birth
- 3 x 2 hour postnatal session to celebrate the birth of baby and mum, as well as answer any questions you may have
- Consultation via telephone or email during the first 6 weeks after birth
Maternology Postnatal Doula
- During these sessions, I will be offering emotional and practical support, helping to empower you and your family during this special time
- I have a wide range of knowledge surrounding newborn care & infant feeding, and it would be an absolute pleasure to share this with you, so that you may find the best way that works for you and your baby
- I aim to create a safe space for mum where she can talk openly about anything she needs to, knowing that this will be kept in confidence.
- I am very flexible in my role and will always ask whether there is anything I can do during our time together, be it light housework, perhaps looking after baby whilst mum takes a shower or a rest, grocery shopping, day to day maintenance, caring for older siblings while you spend time getting to know your newborn baby
- Accompany mum and baby to any appointments or shopping trip
